Prof. Syed Zahid Jamal has been an integral part of the NICVD team since 2001. He is a certified Diplomate of American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Cardiology from New York and Boston respectively. He further proceeded to receive his Fellowship in Electrophysiology from Harvard University, USA. Apart from being the Director of Medical Education and Electrophysiology & Pacing Departments at NICVD, Prof. Zahid is also the person responsible for establishing the Electrophysiology Department in 2002, performing the first implantable defibrillator procedure (2002) and implanting the first heart failure device at NICVD (2004). He is a founding member of the Pakistan Heart Association which is an academic organization involved in conducting workshops/symposiums based on the latest updates in the field of cardiology.
