The Paediatric Cardiology Department

The Paediatric Cardiology Department deals with any birth defects affecting the heart. Children between the ages of 0-18 years and even adults with congenital heart diseases are treated here.

The Paediatric Cardiology Department at NICVD was the first of its kind to be established in Pakistan in 1984 and recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Pakistan (CPSP). It has grown from a 4-bedded unit to a 75 bedded department – still the largest in the country. Out-Patients are also seen at the hospital twice a week.
NICVD is currently working to develop a separate Paediatric Cardiology unit (within the hospital boundary) which will be a center for excellence for the treatment of congenital and structural heart diseases in the entire country.
