Dr. Shahid Ahmed became the part of National Institute of Cardiovascular Disease in 1988. Apart from his MBBS, he holds a Diploma in Cardiology and Fellowship of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan in Cardiology. He has incessantly devoted the past 27 years of his career to NICVD. He has been involved in academic teachings and research work as well.
Dr. Syed Muhammad Afaque is an MBBS, Diplomate in Cardiology, and Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons in Cardiology. He has also competed his 2 years fellowship training in Interventional Cardiology at NICVD. He shares 28 years long journey with National Institute of Cardiovascular Disease as he joined the institution back in 1989. Apart from his association with NICVD, he is presently an active member of Pakistan Hypertension League and Pakistan Cardiac Society.
Dr. Muhammad Asad Bilal Awan is an acclaimed Cardiac Surgeon in the country. After completing his MBBS, he earned the Fellowship of College of Physicians and Surgeons in General Surgery and Cardiac Surgery. He boarded the team of National Institute of Cardiovascular Disease in 2009 and is currently serving as an Assistant Professor Cardiac Surgery. He has authored 12 Research papers on Cardiac Surgery and presented his paper at the International Conference of World Society Cardiothoracic Surgery in 2008.
Dr. Fawad Farooq is an exceptional Cardiologist working at National Institute of Cardiovascular Disease since 2009. He has earned Fellowship of College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS) in Cardiology. He has specialized in the field of Interventional Cardiology. He has also specialized in the field of Interventional Cardiology. He actively participates as speaker and moderator in national scientific meetings and has facilitated multiple Continuing Medical Education (CME) workshops. He is presently co-ordinator of Pakistan Cardiac Society Karachi Chapter as well.
Dr. Ahmad Salman Khan Ghauri joined the NICVD team in 1988 and has been serving the organization with devotion and proficiency since then. In addition to his MBBS, he has also earned a diploma in Cardiology. He has been an Instructor at American Heart Association (AMA) for Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). His exceptional Memberships include Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) and Cardiac Society’s Membership.
Dr. Parveen Akhtar graduated from Dow Medical College, Karachi. She then completed her Fellowship of College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS) in Medicine and Cardiology. She is also a Diplomate Comprehensive Echocardiography, Diplomate Advanced Preoperative TEE and Diplomate Cardiac CT. She is currently an active member of Pakistan Cardiac Society and Cardiology Teaching Resource Committee at NICVD. She has authored 7 Research papers. She actively participates in almost all undergraduate & postgraduate teaching activities of cardiology department, medical college and the hospital. She was awarded the Young Clinician Award at the conference held at Shifa International Hospital Islamabad on December 2006.
Dr. Suhayb Ahmed Khushk has been working with National Institute of Cardiovascular Disease for around 10 years now. He has earned his fellowship of College of Physicians and Surgeon in General Surgery as well as Cardiac Surgery. He is also currently acting as an Invigilator, Supervisor, and Examiner for College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan.
Dr. Faisal Qadir earned his medical degree from The Baqai Medical College, Karachi. He holds certifications in Internal Medicine as well as FCPS Cardiology from College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. He joined National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in 2010 and has the distinction of being trained as the first fellow in Cardiac Electrophysiology in Pakistan. He later underwent advanced training in electrophysiology at National Heart Institute, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is a Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) as well as Certified Electrophysiology Specialist (CEPS-AC) from I.B.H.R.E., USA and is Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society (FHRS), USA. His special interest is in management of patients with syncope (fainting).
Prof. Fazle Rabbi is one of the best Cardiac surgeons in Pakistan. After completing his MBBS from DOW Medical College, Karachi, he obtained his higher education from UK and gained experience there in medical and cardiac surgical fields for 13 years. He acquired his MRCP from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and FRCS from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He joined NICVD in 1996. Besides surgery for Coronary Heart Disease (CABG), his other interests include heart valve repairs and corrective surgery of congenital heart diseases.
Dr. Naveed Ullah Khan boarded the NICVD team in 2004 as a postgraduate fellow and since then he has served this institution with exceptional proficiency. Apart from his MBBS, he received his FCPS in Cardiology and MCPS in Medicine from the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. Furthermore, Dr. Naveed Ullah Khan has received advanced training in Interventional Cardiology for 18 months from Institute Jantung Negara (National Heart Institute) Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He regularly performs complex coronary and peripheral arterial interventions. He also performs Structural Heart Diseases Intervention including TAVI, coarctation of aorta, PTMC and device closures.
Dr. Abdul Samad Achakzai is a Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS) in Cardiology with specialization in Adult Cardiology. He joined NICVD in 2003 with the passion to serve the underprivileged population of Pakistan and has been sincerely working to achieve this goal. He is currently acting as Associate Professor Adult Cardiology. He is examiner for FCPS Cardiology at College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. He has published 12 research papers in renowned journals.
